Aardman Academy announce dates for 2017 Lecturer Development Programme

ardman are delighted to announce that due to the success of their first Aardman Academy: Lecturer Development Programme, which launched in October 2016 they will now run three more courses for 2017. Bookings are now being taken for July 2017 with follow on courses later in the year.

The three day programme is open for up to 12 Animation Lecturers and takes place at the Aardman Studio in Bristol. Topics covered include CGI and Stop Frame animation, lighting and interactivity in animation, model making and character animation. Highlights for the attendees in October included a filmmaking seminar, a studio lighting masterclass and a LAV masterclass.

One of the key reasons for setting up the course was the recognition of a real need to strengthen links between the Universities that teach Animation and the Animation Industry. The course also offers a chance for lecturers to make connections with fellow practitioners.

The attendees feedback was resoundingly positive, below are a few of their responses:

“It’s hard to contain my excitement when telling people about my experience at Aardman. It was a truly wonderful experience and meeting and sharing the experience with you all was fab.” Steve McCombe, Westminster

“It was jolly wasn’t it? And a reminder of why I did an Arts degree in the first place.  A massive thank you to all in and in particular to those at Aardman for making the whole event an exciting and completely engaging experience.” Chris Webster, UWE

“It was fun and informative. So glad I came. I will feed back to my Uni and students so many titbits of advice. I came with an open mind – and left with a full pinging enthusiasm for the value of being expert. I am in such admiration of Aardman allowing talented people space and encouragement to try daft things. It seemed like a very happy workplace.” John Parry, UWE

‘I’m inspired and uplifted from my visit.’ Ellie Land, Northumbria University

Everyone was very approachable and had time to answer questions. It was insightful look into the equipment used, lighting, puppet materials etc, and fantastic to see behind the scenes on productions.” Helen Piercy, Norwich University.

Aardman are now working on expanding the selection of courses available through the Aardman Academy, so do keep an eye on our Aardman Academy page for more information on masterclasses and courses in 2017.
