Peter and the Wolf takes Best Short Animated Film at the Oscars

February 25th, 2008. Peter and the Wolf, a stop-motion animation distributed by Aardman Animations, took the Best Short Animated Film Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards.

The 2006 version of the classic 1936 tale by Russian Sergei Prokofiev, directed by Suzie Templeton, is set to a special new recording of the Philharmonic Orchestra.  Prokofiev’s story has resonated deeply with over five generations of children worldwide, enchanted by its power and sense of fun.  The new film re-works Prokofiev’s popular tale, giving it some 21st century twists and an environmental theme, whilst staying true to the original story.
