Shaun the Sheep scoops International Emmy Award for half hour Llama Drama
The International Emmy® Awards has announced the winners for the annual iEmmys Kids categories and Shaun the Sheep was honoured with the prize for Best Animation for the half hour special Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer’s Llamas!
The ceremony took place during MIPTV the international TV and digital content market and was hosted at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Martinez in Cannes.
This is the third time that Aardman has picked up an International Emmy® for Shaun the Sheep, after receiving the accolade back in 2008 and again in 2010 in the Children and Young People category, and this year fought off strong competition from ‘Larva in New York’ (South Korea), ‘Peanuts’ (France) ‘S.O.S. Fada Manu’ (Brazil).
Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer’s Llamas director Jay Grace and producers Paul Kewley and John Woolley were at the event and accepted the award along with ex-Aardman Head of Sales and Acquisitions, Alix Wiseman.
The award marks a great start to 2017 for Shaun the Sheep as it celebrates 10 years of achievements as a stand-along brand, and the show is currently airing its fifth series in 170 territories worldwide. The studio is now looking forward to embarking on Shaun’s next adventure Shaun the Sheep Movie 2 set for international theatrical release in 2019.
