Privacy notice for the StorySign app

1. GENERAL INFORMATION

This Privacy Notice explains the types of data collected through or related to your use of StorySign App (“StorySign”).

When we say “we, “us” or “our” in this Privacy Notice, we mean Huawei Technologies Dusseldorf GmbH.

References to “you” in this Privacy Notice are to the person using StorySign. If a child is using the StorySign then, depending on the context below, “you” refers either to that child, or to the parent or guardian of that child who should review this Privacy Notice on the child’s behalf, or to both the child and their parent or guardian together.

This Privacy Notice does not apply to any other products or services you might receive from us or any of the other Huawei companies, or to data collected in any other way by us (whether online or offline) or for any other purpose. 4. THE DATA INVOLVED, HOW WE COLLECT IT AND WHY WE USE IT

At the point of downloading the StorySign app, we will automatically collect and process your unique device identifier. This unique device identifier enables you to see when updates are available for the StorySign app.

On the basis of your consent (or, if a child under the age of 16 years is using StorySign, on the basis that such consent is given or authorised by the parent or guardian of that child), we will collect and use the following data relating to you:

• Non-Personally Identifiable app usage data and performance statistics

We will automatically collect and process this data through Google Analytics, a third-party service provider tracking technology, as you interact with StorySign. This technology helps us understand how users of StorySign are using the app and provides an insight to us on further changes or optimisations we might want to make to StorySign.

Google Analytics is an analytics service provided by Google Inc., headquartered at 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. As well as Google Analytics, the StorySign app uses iOS analytics through Apple Connect for similar analytics purposes to those set out above. Collection and processing of data through iOS is subject to Apple’s general privacy policy which is available at: https://www.apple.com/privacy/

You can control your privacy settings within the StorySign app and you can withdraw your consent by disabling this function at any time.

5. SHARING YOUR DATA

We share your data collected through cookies and similar technologies as set out in section 4 (above).

We may appoint third parties, such as Aardman Animations Limited, to collect or process your data on our behalf. They will have access to your personal data only as required to fulfil their contractual obligations to us in providing services to us. Our service providers are carefully selected and commissioned by us, are bound by contract, and will not process your personal data for any other purposes.

6. LOCATION OF YOUR DATA

We may transfer information to countries outside the European Economic Area. Where we do so, Huawei complies with applicable legal requirements for providing adequate safeguards for such transfers by transferring data to countries or organisations that the European Commission has determined will protect your data adequately, incorporating the standard model clauses in relation to such transfer or, where such transfers are to the USA, by requiring such transfers are under the US Privacy Shield.

We will retain your data only for as long as is reasonably necessary to comply with the purposes set out in section 4, or as otherwise permitted or required by applicable law.

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to keep your data secure at all times. We provide regular training to our employees and update and test our security technology on an ongoing basis.

You can exercise these rights by contacting us as set out in Sections 2 and 3. If you request a right that is not available to you we will let you know.

Right to Complain
You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority, or the Data Protection Officer of North Rhine-Westphalia (where Huawei Technologies Deutschland GmbH has its headquarters).

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Notice, and will note the date of its most recent revision below. If we plan any significant changes to this Privacy Notice, and where required by applicable law (for example, processing your data for new purposes), we will communicate with you prior to implementing such changes.
