or 40 years, Aardman has entertained and charmed the world, creating much-loved characters and bringing unforgettable stories to life. The studio’s multi-award-winning productions have created household names such as Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, Morph and Creature Comforts to name a few. The studio’s work is often imitated yet Aardman continues to lead the field with a unique combination of animation wizardry and humour.
Now Wallace & Gromit, Shaun, Morph and a host of other well-known characters are featured in the exhibition The Art of Aardman at the German Filmmuseum in Frankfurt which opens on 12th June and runs throughout the summer until the 30th October. It is the first major exhibition in Germany to exhibit the work of the studio and is aimed at a family audience, providing an entertaining intergenerational experience.
“Aardman are not only Oscar®-winning crowd pullers, but also international pioneers of modern storytelling and have been responsible for a renaissance of the traditional stop motion process in the digital age “, said Claudia Dillmann, Director of the Deutsches Filmmuseum,
From Wallace’s cracking contraptions, passing through Gromit’s famous vegetable garden, to the sets of Shaun the Sheep The Movie and the flying machine from Chicken Run, these spectacular artworks will pay a veritable homage to the artistic genius of the sculptors that animate the clay creatures image by image.
