Lighting & Comp Artists - Series

Location: Remote working, but based at Aardman’s studio in Bristol when required, abiding to current Covid protocols & procedures.
We are looking for x4 Mid Level and x2 Junior Level Lighting & Comp Artists to become part of Aardman’s first fully in-house CG/mixed medium series Lloyd of the Flies. The series will be 52eps x 11mins.
The Lighting/Comp Artists will be part of a small team to establish key lighting set ups for generic and bespoke locations and scenes, as well as being responsible for composting the final shots ready for rendering. It is a combined role so the successful applicants will be expected to perform both tasks.
The successful candidates will act as a key members of the production team, ensuring that shots are delivered on time and to the high creative standards required.
You will define (in conjunction with the CG Supervisor and Lead Light & Comp) the most appropriate techniques to employ across lighting, rendering, and compositing. This will include establishing a ‘house-style’ and overall look and template for the series to, include problem solving and offering up solutions.
A key part of the role will be to work with the Lighting lead, using pre-defined Arnold lighting rigs. This will involve rendering character animation and some prop elements. These will be outputted through a limited number of AOV’s and render layers and composited together using Nuke using layered background artwork that will be provided.
It is therefore very important that you should have a sound understanding of Nuke and Arnold for Maya.
We are looking for someone with a strong creative eye, good problem solving skills as well as previous experience in full CG animation production. You will have knowledge and experience in asset texturing and lookdev and experience using cloud based project management systems such as Shotgun / Ftrack.
