Shaun the Sheep wins British Academy Children’s Award for Best Animation
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced the winners for the annual British Academy Children’s Awards and Shaun the Sheep was honoured with the award for Best Animaton! The ceremony was hosted by Doc Brown at the Roundhouse, London and presenters included Samantha Barks, Sharleen Spiteri, Bernard Cribbins, Myleene Klass, Emma Bunton, Jamal Edwards, James Norton, Simon Webbe and Malorie Blackman.
This is the second time that Aardman has picked up the Kids BAFTA Best Animation award for Shaun the Sheep after receiving the accolade back in 2010, and this year fought off strong competition from Strange Hill High, Dennis the Menace and Gnasher and The Amazing World of Gumball. Shaun the Sheep creator Richard Starzak was at the event and accepted the award along with series producer John Woolley, director of photography Charles Copping and Alix Wiseman, Head of Sales and Acquisitions.
The award rounds off a truly terrific year for Shaun the Sheep, which is now in its fourth series and broadcast in 170 territories worldwide. Aardman are now looking forward to embarking on Shaun’s next adventure with the brand’s first feature film Shaun the Sheep The Movie set for international theatrical release from 6th February 2015.
