Client British Council
Saptan Stories was a mass collaborative arts event, created by Aardman for the British Council’s UK/India Year of Culture 2017.
Members of the Indian public were invited to submit and vote on storylines for a unique seven-part story, which was illustrated by seven standout artists from both the UK and India. What unfolded was a universal story of love lost, fears confronted and confidence regained.
Artists Adrita Das, Gavin Strange, Gemma Correll, Janine Shroff, Priyesh Trivedi, Saloni Sinha and Tom Mead all interpreted the story in their unique way; a fascinating insight into their style, practice and motivations.
Public reaction to the project was phenomenal, with thousands of storyline entries and votes, a million people actively engaging, 18 million social reach and a press readership of over 93 million.
Saptan Stories was an ambitious project that combined engaging storytelling with visual artistry – becoming a genuine cross-cultural exchange between the UK and India – connecting these two remarkable cultures.
