Which Shakespeare character are you?
We were asked to:
Create a learning activity to celebrate National Shakespeare Week for BBC Bitesize, in partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company, aimed at a KS2 (7-11 years) audience. By focusing on his characters, we were asked to create an activity which encourages children to engage with and enjoy learning about Shakespeare’s plays.
So we made:
A simple yet fun quiz framework for children to respond to in order to reveal the Shakespearean character they best relate to, with factually appropriate questions supplied by learning experts at the RSC.
On establishing which character they best relate to, the children then have the ability to ‘put themselves’ in the play by uploading photos of themselves, dressing their photo up appropriately and choosing a backdrop for their play. The pay-off being that they can then see their creation ‘performing’ character specific quotes, read by real RSC actors. Throughout the activity, the children are able to ‘find out’ more about that character via pop up facts.
