Sarah Cox

Sarah Cox sits on the Board of Directors at Aardman and in her role as Chief Creative Director at Aardman is responsible for the development slate across the company.

She has brought a range of new projects to the Aardman roster that include the stop frame musical short Robin Robin and Aardman’s first CG series Lloyd of the Flies and also was Executive Producer of the Shaun the Sheep series Adventures of Mossy Bottom for Netflix and Epic Adventures of Morph for Sky.

Prior to joining Aardman, Sarah was the co-owner and director of ArthurCox, an award-winning film and animation production company, which she launched in 2002 alongside Sally Arthur. Here Sarah created and directed the BAFTA-nominated animation pre-school series Nina Needs to Go! for Disney Junior, and the educational BAFTA-nominated online series Search It Up for Azoomee.

During this time, she maintained a close working relationship with Aardman, collaborating with the studio as a commercials director. She directed the award winning film The Itch of the Golden Nit in 2011, which was created under the ground-breaking and BAFTA-award winning Tate Movie Project, with the participation of 34,000 children across the UK.

Her first stop motion short Don’t Let it All Unravel was made in conjunction with Aardman as one of the 60 environmental films commissioned for the ‘Live Earth’ concerts and has since won 11 international film awards and has been screened at numerous festivals and winning the Grand Prix at Tricky Women in Vienna 2008.

Her other independent shorts have been widely screened at International Festivals and include two British Animation Awards, a Silver Dove at Leipzig for Plain Pleasures in 2002 and Heavy Pockets was also BAFTA nominated in 2004.

She has worked as an Animation tutor at Savannah college of Art and Design and at the National School of Film and TV and is a voting member of BAFTA.
